Get to know me

My name is Kaytlyn, and this is my Dalmatian Pilot! I grew up in the great state of Minnesota, and I still refer to it as home (even if I am currently living in another state).

I started my photography journey at a young age by taking photos of my own personal dog. Over time I figured people were getting sick of seeing all the photos, so I created their own instagram and posted them there to my heart's content. Over time I fell in love with photography and getting the "perfect shot", but it was only of my personal dog at that time. I also fell in love with another hobby — Dog Training and Canine Sports. I would compete on weekends with Pilot and LOVED when there happened to be a photographer at the events to capture the moments. That's when I noticed it. The lack of photographers in this niche. I remember looking at events and just hoping there would be a photographer there that they hadn't advertised. And thats when I realized that my now hobby could be so much more. A passion to capture the bond between human and canine athlete, a team. And that's where Iron Pines was born. The name comes from the soft, long needled pine trees that cover the iron ore mines of northern Minnesota. I fell in love with them while hunting grouse with my family growing up, and knew it was the perfect homage to my home.  

Outside of work you can find me spending almost every minute with Pilot, whether hiking the North Shore, sitting on a patio, or training in a local park. I am also a connoisseur of the finer things in life (AKA chicken strips, cheese curds, french fries, and Diet Dr. Pepper) and can be found hunting for the best of them with my friends in tow.
